Employment Services

Eligibility

• Out of work and out of school
• Any Ontarian
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Provide knowledge needed to find and keep a job
• Connect employers who are willing to provide on-the-job training to job seekers.
• The program offers financial incentives for employers to provide on-the-job training
• Individual employment supports are also available as well as employer incentives, to offset costs of on-the-job training
• Assistance with resume development, interview practice and coaching on how to market yourself

Eligible Employers

In order for employers to participate in placements, employers:

• Are legally authorized to operate in Ontario.
• Comply with all provincial legislation and applicable federal legislation, including, the Accessibility for Ontarian with Disabilities Act, 2005, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Provide employment in Ontario.
• Maintain Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) insurance for participants, while on a placement or, if not required to register with WSIB, maintain alternate workplace safety insurance coverage, through a private insurance carrier, as set out in section 5.8 of the Guidelines; and follow the procedures relating to claims set out in section 5.11 and 5.12 of the Guidelines.

Criteria

Employers must submit an Employer Application, Job Description, training plan and be willing to provide experience that will prepare the participant to work in their chosen career.

Duration

• Cannot exceed the financial amount, of $6000 and/or $8000, for the Apprenticeship signing Bonus, if applicable for placements with incentives.
• Employment Services is a year-round component.
