Objective

The Mobility Assistance Program is designed to enable clients to accept full-time employment opportunities, when the client must move from their existing residence to accept a job.

Program Details

Eligibility

To qualify for the Mobility Assistance Program, participants must be:
• A band member of Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.
• Unemployed or underemployed and having difficulty securing employment locally or must move to secure employment in a different location, due to medical reasons.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• No longer be required by law to attend school.
• Registered with Grand River Employment and Training.

Criteria

• Prior approval is required, from the PSO and Team Leader.
• Financial assistance is provided, once per fiscal year.
• Must have a letter of employment, from their employer.
• Clients failing to maintain their full-time employment status for a minimum of six months may be denied further financial assistance.
• Clients must provide an estimate of travel and/or relocation costs and quotes when feasible, from their place of residence to the relocation site.

Travel
When driving, travel assistance is provided at thirty-five cents (.35)/km, from residence to interview site. All or a portion of other modes of transportation, including airfare, boat fare, meals and accommodations, may be covered, up to $1,200. Eligible costs must be based on the most economical means of transportation, to the location of work or job interview.
Relocation – Moving
Relocation or moving expenses will be based on the Mobility Assistance Chart.
