Self-Employment Assistance

Objective

The Self-Employment Assistance Program provides financial assistance to eligible participants, to help them start their own business. The Self-Employment Assistance Program allows participants to concentrate on making their business successful.

Program Details

To qualify, individuals must be:

  • Unemployed
  • Status band member of Six Nations of the Grand River
  • New business- 2 years and under
  • Registered with the CRA & Six Nations Elected Council
  • Registered with Grand River Employment and Training
  • Sole proprietor or 1 business owner if in partnership

Criteria

  • participant must submit a completed business plan 
  • participant must devote at least 35 hours/week to implement the business
  • Have no previous participation in a self-employment assistance activity funded by GREAT 
  • Business may be seasonal. However, participant must demonstrate tha they are devoting full-time efforts to the business
