JOB SUMMARY: The NIHB Liaison Officer reports to and receives direct supervision from the Manager- Allied Health Services, Department of Well-Being, and Six Nations of the Grand River.

 

The NIHB Navigator plays a critical role in assisting eligible Six Nations community members in accessing and navigating the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program, as well as related provincial and territorial health programs and services. The Navigator supports individuals and families by providing information, advocacy, and guidance to ensure they receive the health benefits and services they are entitled to.

In addition to client support, the NIHB Navigator works to increase community awareness of the NIHB Program, existing health services, and the jurisdictions that impact access to care. The position involves gathering, organizing, and sharing information on health access challenges faced by community members and contributing to the identification of strategies for improving health services.

The NIHB Navigator fosters collaboration between community members, service providers, and external agencies, ensuring that health access barriers are addressed, and that culturally appropriate, equitable health care is promoted for the Six Nations community.
