Indigenous Community Justice Program Coordinator

One Year Contract – Full Time

$43,000-$45,000 plus Benefits

Responsibilities:

 

The program coordinator is responsible for the effective and efficient daily operations of Niagara Indigenous Community Justice Program. The ICJP is a post charge diversion program for Indigenous people involved with the justice system. Responsibilities include case management, strategic planning, client file management, facilitating hearing circles, programming, networking, and reporting to funders.

Qualification:

 

  • A degree or three years’ experience in the justice system
  • Knowledge of alternative justice systems
  • A background in financial management, including but not limited to budget management, sustainability planning and proposal writing
  • Experience in personnel supervision
  • Knowledge of social and cultural barriers faced by urban Indigenous people
  • Ability to network and liaison with other agencies
  • Background in crisis management/intervention
  • Knowledge/experience in case management procedures
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience working within a community-based organization
  • Satisfactory criminal records check
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
