Full-time, Permanent, Salaried

 

Salary: $47,620 - $53,572 - $59,525

Reporting to the Contact Manager, the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Worker will lead the development of responsive, individual, strengths-based support plans in collaboration with families of children/youth affected by FASD, together with service providers and educators.

 

Responsibilities:

· Work with the family, service providers and educators to build capacity for supporting the child/youth and identify strategies to meet specific needs of the child/youth and family based on the best available evidence of FASD supports

· Provide direct intervention support, collaboration and system navigation across multiple sectors, such as health, education, youth justice, community and social services

· Work at the local systems level to improve awareness of FASD and support local cross-sectoral planning tables to identify gaps and opportunities for improving supports for FASD

· Facilitate parent to parent connections.

 

Qualifications:

· Successful completion of a University degree in the social sciences, with the focus child/youth development, or an acceptable equivalent of post-secondary training and extensive experience

· Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

· Five years work-related experience with families of children/youth with multiple and/or complex needs, developmental services, child/youth mental health services or other vulnerable or at-risk populations

· Knowledge related to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and the impact on children, youth and families

· Assessment skills for identifying child, youth and family’s strengths and needs across developmental domains

· Knowledge of Haldimand & Norfolk counties and surrounding areas

· Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of virtual service provision

· Excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills

· Vulnerable Sector Record Check (includes Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check) and Children’s Aid Society Declaration/Release

· Possession of a valid driver’s licence, $2 million liability insurance, satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, and use of a vehicle.
