Taima Beaver

October 29, 2025

Taima Beaver, a 29-year-old mother of two from Six Nations of the Grand River, is a member of the Mohawk Wolf clan. She has been a beneficiary of the services offered by GREAT since the
age of 13, appreciating the diverse support provided to her throughout her journey.

In her formative years, Taima received guidance from GREAT in crafting her initial resume and cover letter to initiate her job search while pursuing her GED.

Through GREAT, she secured a Training-on-the-Job opportunity in the food industry, where she honed her customer service skills and began generating income to support her family.

In 2019, Taima returned to GREAT with the ambition of enhancing her education and training to acquire more stable employment. With the support of GREAT, she completed a Bookkeeping Course through OSTTC via a Purchase of Training. Following this achievement, she was linked with the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation for a Training-on-the-Job role as an Administrative Assistant, enabling her to further develop her expertise. This position led to a lasting period of employment for Taima, but she needed to explore some more. Most recently, Taima took advantage of the opportunity to complete the Healthcare Office Assistant program.

Currently, Taima is a Finance Clerk for Mississauga of the Credit First Nation. She has really come to realize her love for working with numbers. Although she did not choose to work in the Health Field, she loves that she still has the option to by investing in her education.

Despite encountering challenges in maintaining motivation and self-belief, Taima has persevered and now seeks to inspire others who have faced similar struggles. She emphasizes that with determination and resilience, success is attainable.

We had the opportunity to ask Taima what advice she would give to a potential client who may be unsure of their career path, and she shared this with us.

“Take the course. Whatever it is! It can open more doors or help you see where you want to work. I never thought I would be a finance person, but having the opportunity to take courses and have assistance from GREAT helped me find a career path I didn’t know I would like”
