The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time 
vacancy of Youth Mobile Street Outreach Worker
 
The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre (HRIC) is a large Indigenous not for profit organization.

The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre (HRIC) Youth Mobile Street Outreach Worker (YMSOW), 
under the direction of the Executive Director or Designate, will assist with providing resources 
and supports to Indigenous youth who are at risk of or are experiencing homelessness.  
 
The YMSOW will work as a member of the mobile street outreach team on the street connecting 
with Indigenous youth at various locations including emergency shelters, encampments, parks, 
etc. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Must have a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record; 
• 2-year post-secondary education in Child and Youth Work, Social Service Work and/or 
Indigenous Studies or a combination of equivalent and relevant education; 
• 2 years' experience in youth outreach, advocacy, or support; 
• Experience working with Indigenous peoples;  
• Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history; 
• Skilled in establishing trusting relationships with youth; 
• Knowledge of homelessness issues; 
• Knowledge of Indigenous and non-Indigenous community services and supports; 
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances; 
• Familiarity with the local area; 
• Capability to move, lift, and store heavy boxes and large containers; 
• Ability to demonstrate positive role modelling; 
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships;  
• High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a 
diverse environment;  
• Experience in using Microsoft Office/365 applications and other databases; 
• First Aid-CPR certification or be willing to be certified; 
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and experience; and, 
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. 

HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm (8-hour shift within these hours of 
operation), occasional evenings/weekends 
SALARY RANGE: $52,372.00-$57,050.00 per annum 
 
The HRIC is a highly flexible organization offering additional compensation in accordance with 
current policies. This includes 7 paid personal emergency days, 5 paid cultural days, 4 paid 
holidays beyond mandatory Employment Standards, paid vacation, paid shutdown over the 
winter holiday week, and a group benefits program. HRIC employee group benefits program has 
mandatory enrollment for full time permanent employees; eligible employees will be able to 
enroll upon the successful completion of their (3) three-month probationary period.
