Position:                      Yard Monitor

Terms:                          Permanent, part-time (20 hours per week – summer lay off)

Compensation:         $18.00/hr

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Kawenni:io/Gaweni:yo School Principal, the Yard Monitor will ensure the health and wellness of all Kawenni:io/Gaweni:yo students during their active breaks/recesses both inside and outside the school facility by being in the applicable play area for the entire duration the students are in the play area, providing on-going, age-appropriate and conscientious supervision to the students and actively engaging with the children to promote trust and enforcing established playground rules to maintain a safe environment.

Education/Qualifications

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience overseeing groups of children at play
• Satisfactory Criminal Records Check, with Vulnerable Sector Screening
• First Aid and CPR Training

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the Rotinonhsion:ni/Hodinohso:ni culture and/or language.

Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills through respect, sharing and caring.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Willingness to work in varying seasonal weather conditions, including heat, snow and cold.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to support the mission and vision of the school.
