Function & Overview   
Under the supervision of the Registrar, the University Consortium Program (UP) Support Officer is 
responsible to establish a structured system to support students in the UP program to transition 
successfully into their second year at partner institutions. By strengthening university partnerships, 
enhancing student tracking and developing transition resources, the UP-Support Officer aims to improve 
student success and create more opportunities for learner mobility. The UP-Support Officer is required to 
perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic 
(SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; 
contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with 
Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).


Duties 

The duties of the University Consortium Program (UP) Support Officer include, without limitation: 

Project Work
◦ Establishing and maintaining a project workplan, including project milestones;
◦ Planning and implementing student engagement strategies;
◦ Building and maintaining relationships with partner schools to assess existing transition supports;
◦ Creating standardized transition process map: document each step of learner mobility, identify gaps, 
key intervention points, and areas for improved student support;
◦ Developing a student tracking system framework to define key data points: application outcomes, 
enrollment, barriers, etc.;
◦ Developing student-facing transition resources: housing & transport guide, customized transition 
materials, OUAC application tips, and long-term academic pathway planning;
◦ Developing career survey for UP students to determine field of studies that are of interest;
◦ Developing and overseeing an UP Alumni/Mentorship program;

Student Support
◦ Responding to student inquiries about the UP program and admission processes in coordination with 
the Registrarial Services Associates;
◦ Assisting in advising students on degree/program progression;
◦ Assisting in facilitating student academic planning and transitions;
◦ Advising prospective applicants/students via 1 on 1 and group settings, using an advising model, on 
program options, admission requirements, pathways, upgrading, transfer credits, etc.;
◦ Supporting the student accommodation process in collaboration with the Accessibility Advisor;
◦ Advising and aiding students in OUAC university applications, postsecondary loans, OSAP, Band 
funding, scholarships and bursaries, and other student funding that may become available in 
coordination with the Student Affairs team;

Event Planning
◦ Assisting in planning and coordinating a variety of student academic, social and extracurricular 
activities;
◦ Keeping UP students informed of deadlines and upcoming events;
◦ Assisting in planning and conducting Student Orientation in collaboration with the Director of Student 
Affairs;
◦ Connecting with partner schools to arrange campus tours;
◦ Coordinating career event days;
◦ Collaborating on the planning of Annual Student Celebration/Convocation;
◦ Participating in program focus groups and advisory committees to ensure program quality and student 
success;
◦ Assist with OUAC info sessions;

General Administration
◦ Knowing and understanding the organization chart, staff directory, all staff functions, the institute, 
website, all student application and registration forms, and key dates;
◦ Being familiar with Board policy, Board membership, and operating policy;
◦ Assisting with the administration and analysis of the Student Experience Survey;
◦ Participating in program focus groups, advisory committees to ensure program quality and student 
success; and
◦ Assisting with campus events and attending events related to recruitment initiatives such as Open 
Houses, Information sessions, education and career fairs, APSIP tour and any other events that will 
promote and maximize enrollment of SNP programs and services.

Qualifications 

Education & Experience
◦ University degree in social science/humanities/education or related field; and/or
◦ Minimum of 3 years related experience in similar role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
◦ Thorough understanding of the post-secondary sector, including Universities, Colleges, and 
Indigenous Institutes;
◦ Demonstrated competencies in strategic thinking, coordination, analysis, policy development, and 
change management;
◦ A general and current knowledge of Hodinǫshǫ:nih history, culture, values, contemporary
issues, community priorities, and stakeholders;
◦ Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written expression (i.e., faultless spelling and
grammar, and professional style);
◦ Sound interpersonal skills including communication, organization, negotiation, confidentiality, and 
professional judgement;
◦ Ability to work under pressure and manage schedules, portfolios, and timelines, to meet 
demanding deadlines;
◦ Capacity to work both independently and in a team setting, demonstrating
Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind); and
◦ Demonstrated familiarity with standard desktop computing programs, including spreadsheets, 
word processing, and database applications, on the Windows 2010 (or later) operating system.

Criminal Record Check 

The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check – Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at Six Nations Polytechnic, and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by their first day of employment at Six Nations Polytechnic.
