JOB POSTING

Under the direction of the Tsitewahket Coordinator, the Tsitewahket Land-Based Cultural Facilitator provides culturally grounded wellness programming rooted in Indigenous teachings and Land-based activities. This role focuses on supporting healing and wellness through cultural knowledge, outdoor activities, seasonal teachings, and connection to the land. The facilitator is responsible for designing, leading, and co-facilitating culturally relevant land-based programs for youth, families, elders, and other community members. Programs are primarily delivered out on the land, including traditional teachings, cultural practices, with occasional indoor traditional crafts. This role requires strong cultural knowledge, comfort working outdoors in all seasons, and the ability to independently facilitate and co-facilitate land-based programming.

The Tsitewahket Program views mental health, addictions, and trauma concerns as consequences of direct and intergenerational trauma, and other disruptions in the connections of the individual and family to the holistic perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in or awareness of cultural, land base and clinical modalities in prevention, healing and aftercare support services.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with excellent computer skills
  • Professional attitude and appearance with exceptional Customer service
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Actively involved in current personal wellness/recovery/healing journey/path.
  • Minimum of 2 years of being substance free.
  • Experience working in and/or knowledge of addictions residential treatment programs.
  • Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies and/or combination of an equivalent and relevant education would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills verbally, written and computer skills.
  • Experience working in First Nation communities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain culturally appropriate relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, workshop design and delivery.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating cultural and land-based activities.
  • Fluency in a First Nation language is an asset.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and submit a 3 Year Driver’s Record check.
  • Flexibility is a must; hours may vary depending on programming needs.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of NHTC Programs and Services.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Combination of working outside in all seasons and/or working in the office
  • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting.
  • Attendance and participation in required training, education, and personal self-care.
  • Efficient computer and data entering skills necessary for documentation.
  • High levels of client emotionally charged situations may be experienced.
  • Demonstration of positive attitudes and friendliness.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of NHTC programs and services.
  • Efficient management of professional and personal stress while working in a multi-task environment
  • Proper clothes worn to perform related job duties.
  • Comfortable leading groups during outdoor activities.
  • Ability to safely manage fires, tools, and outdoor equipment when required.

Salary Range: $55,000 to $63,000 Contract Position to end March 31, 2028, depending on qualifications and continued funding, plus excellent Benefit Package.
