Trades Assistant TOJ
One (1) Year Fixed Term Position Available

Salary Range: $36,700 - $43,400

 Grand River Employment and Training Inc. (GRETI) is seeking a Trades Assistant to support daily operations within the Trades training wing by working alongside Trades Instruction staff. This role involves assisting with hands-on training activities, preparing materials, and helping maintain a safe and organized learning environment.

The Trades Assistant shall possess the following skills: Works independently, accepts instruction, self-starter, and takes initiative. In addition to these skills, you must possess the following qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Diploma
  • Up to one (1) year of experience in industrial work, an asset

Job Title: Trades Assistant

Reports to: Trades Team Lead

 

PURPOSE:

The Trades Assistant is responsible for supporting the training efforts of the Trades Instruction staff for all programs.

The Trade Assistant is responsible for assisting the department and organization in reaching their goals and objectives by continuously enhancing operations through more efficient and effective work processes while maintaining the level of professionalism expected by GRETI (as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manuals) and upholding the ethics of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Trades Assistant shall possess   High School Diploma or GED Diploma with a Up to one (1) year of experience in industrial work, an asset.

Knowledge

  • Comfortable learning metal working concepts & skills
  • Able to work safely with proper PPE
  • Familiar with steel working hand tools

Skills

  • Able to lift heavier loads
  • Strong desire to complete projects
  • Able to focus on tasks while in process
