JOB PURPOSE 

The Unit Coordinator, Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship, provides administrative, academic, and learner support to ensure the effective planning, delivery, and quality assurance of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship programs. The role exists to coordinate program operations, support student success, and maintain compliance with institutional and Ministry requirements. Working closely with the Associate Dean, the Coordinator ensures that all processes, documentation, and communications within the Unit reflect efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with Six Nations Polytechnic’s values and strategic priorities, fostering a culturally supportive and respectful learning environment. 

 

The Unit Coordination, Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Student Coordination and Support 25%

  • Responds to program and course inquiries; 
  • Support student admissions, enrolment, and apprentice applications; 
  • Maintains student records and grade reporting; orients students to online systems; guides students to supports and accommodations;
  • Assists with community and employment referrals. 
  • Other related duties, as required. 

 

Program Planning, Support, and Quality Assurance 25%

  • Assist in developing and maintaining course outlines and timetables; 
  • Support in instructor onboarding and LMS training; monitors student progress and course evaluations;
  • Supports program audits and reviews;  
  • Assists with cyclic review processes, data collection, and quality improvement actions. 
  • Other related duties, as required. 

 

General Administration 20%

  • Provides administrative support to the Associate Dean, including preparing reports,
  • Correspondence, and budget projections; 
  • Maintains unit files and documentation;
  • Oversees calendars, meeting coordination, and scheduling of facilities and resources to ensure smooth program delivery and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent platforms. 
  • Other related duties, as required.  

 

External Relations and Resource and Event Coordination 15%

  • Acts as communications lead for Skilled Trades programs;
  •  Contributes to website and Viewbook content; advise on promotional materials;
  • Supports recruitment, orientation and annual celebration events;
  •  Liaises with internal departments, external vendors, and community partners to promote programs and share information 
  • Other related duties, as required.  

 

Policy, Process, and Compliance Support 15%

  • Ensures adherence to institutional and Ministry policies and reporting requirements;
  •  Maintains data tracking systems; assists in the preparation of funding applications and Ministry submissions;
  •  Supports the development and implementation of new processes and policies. 
  • Other related duties, as required.  

 

EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE 

Completion of a formal post-secondary college of one to two academic years in Trades-related field, business administration, education or related fields.

 

EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE 

Over 1 years and including 3 years of experience providing administrative and coordination support include information systems, learning management systems (LMS) to support student enrolment, grade and program tracking within a postsecondary, training, or apprenticeship environment.

Experience preparing professional correspondence, reports, and communications, demonstrating accuracy, attention to detail.

Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment that requires coordination among faculty, students, and administrative staff.

Experience managing competing deadlines and maintaining organization in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, contributing to a respectful and culturally supportive work environment.

 

Criminal Record Check

The successful candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Background Check – Vulnerable Sector Screening that is satisfactory to Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) prior to the first day of work at Six Nations Polytechnic, and an Offence Declaration that is satisfactory to SNP by their first day of employment at Six Nations Polytechnic.

POSITION TYPE: Existing Vacancy

JOB TYPE: Full-time Permanent

SCHEDULE: 37.5 hrs Monday-Friday

WORK MODEL: Hybrid ; 1 day a week remote

PAY BAND: 5 Core range $56,412.51–$66,096.25. The target hiring salary for this position is minimum (Step 1) up to 45% of the pay band. Considerations for new hire step placements include experiential knowledge and/or language and cultural expertise.
