To be eligible to apply for a summer student position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a student.
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis and returning to school in the fall of 2026.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for supporting Halton Region’s Indigenous relations initiatives. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analyze various local, regional, provincial, federal and Indigenous advocacy and priority issues.
  • Gather data, information and synthesize information.
  • Review relevant Indigenous reports followed up by summary.
  • Prepare briefing notes, resource material as required.
  • Respond to research requests.
  • Support the Indigenous Relationship and Engagement Work plan.
  • Provide assistance to Indigenous Advisor in relationship building initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.
