A.                 PURPOSE

 

The Summer Restoration Worker will be responsible for working on field sites with other team members of Kayanase.

 

In support of Kayanase goal of providing quality products and services, the Restoration Worker shall continuously strive to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with other staff to provide quality services.

High School Diploma

Summary of Major Duties:

Onsite Services: Participate in seed collection & processing activities. Assist with general maintenance of greenhouse, building & grounds. Learn administrative processes. Participate in meetings as required. Other duties as assigned by Plant Production Lead.

Offsite Services: Participate in site preparation. Complete Job Assessment Risk Review form (JARR) to determine hazards on the job (onsite as well). Plant, water & perform other maintenance work. Assist with spraying operations & removal of invasive species. Assist with material preparation, loading, unloading of equipment for project site. Other duties as assigned by Ecological Team Lead.

F.                 WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Physical Effort: Working in the heat and a variety of demanding conditions. Majority of time is spent walking in the greenhouse or fields. Physical demands also include standing, lifting under 50 pounds, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, and bending.

 

Physical Environment: Located mainly in an outdoor setting. Unpleasant conditions due to weather, dust & dirt. Noise level is usually quiet to moderate & can be loud when operating machinery.

 

Sensory Attention: Requires frequent periods of concentration to accomplish tedious exacting work with frequent change of tasks. Situational and safety awareness while working with others, around traffic, or heavy equipment.

 

Mental Stress: Moderate level of tension and anxiety due to deadlines or extreme weather conditions. Works closely with others as part of a team.
