POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE:                Student Events Coordinator Assistant

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

 

Reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Community Events Coordinator and the Department Director.

 

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

 

To gain a meaningful employment experience and assist the Community Events Coordinator in coordinating Six Nations of the Grand River community events and related activities as directed by Six Nations of the Grand River.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Collaborating with and attending meetings with Key Stakeholders;
  2. Attending Team meetings;
  3. Attending third party meetings
  4. Booking equipment, and facilities
  5. Purchasing various products, items for various events
  6. Other Functions
  • Taking notes, developing action plans
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Community Events Coordinator

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Work requires a high degree of interaction with the Community Events Coordinator, Chief and Council, other Six Nations of the Grand River Departments, and external organizations and individuals. Subject to demands, deadlines, some stressful situations, and interruptions, need to prioritize tasks, maintain composure in demanding situations, and maintain confidentiality. Weekends, and some travel may be required.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

 

With the Community Events Coordinator:

Receives direction, instructions, supervision, training and interacts to ensure tasks are done efficiently and effectively.

 

With Staff Members:

Works cooperatively and courteously with all staff; is a team player; provides information and assistance.

 

With External Agencies/Organizations and Businesses:

Promotes Six Nations of the Grand River in a positive and professional manner; interacts cooperatively and courteously.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized University degree or college institution;
  • 2024 graduates may be considered.

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to effectively set priorities and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of computer applications including, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be trustworthy, reliable and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.

 

IMPACT OF ERROR:

 

Error in judgement and conduct of duties may lead to lost credibility, poor public relations and misinformation being provided. Errors could result in embarrassment to the Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council and administration, loss of public confidence and unnecessary conflict leading to lack of trust.

 

CONTROL:

  • Guiding principles set by the Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council and the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Must work within the Policies and Procedures established by the Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council for its Administration.
