Trainer

Reports To: Executive Director

The Trainer supports the growth, knowledge, and professional development of staff, caregivers, and community partners by designing and delivering culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and strengths-based learning opportunities. Guided by Indigenous values, teachings, and ways of knowing, the Trainer works collaboratively with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and communities to build capacity and enhance services for children, youth, adults, and families.

The Trainer identifies learning needs, develops and facilitates training programs, and evaluates their effectiveness to ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and cultural understanding required to provide safe, respectful, and high-quality services. This role promotes continuous learning, mentorship, and reflective practice while supporting compliance with agency policies, legislation, accreditation standards, and community expectations.

Through an Indigenous lens, the Trainer fosters holistic wellness by recognizing the interconnectedness of spirit, mind, body, emotions, family, community, culture, and land. The Trainer helps strengthen cultural identity, promote reconciliation, and support decolonizing practices within the organization, ensuring that learning initiatives reflect Indigenous worldviews, community priorities, and the agency's commitment to self-determination and the well-being of future generations.
