Position:                    Special Education Resource Teacher

Closing:                     July 15th, 2026

Terms:                       Full-time, Permanent

Salary Range:           $54,000 - $104,429 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience

Job Summary:         The Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT) will work with the Coordinator to develop formal and informal individualized education plans (IEP) for students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. The SERT will adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects when necessary, such as reading, writing, and math, to students with mild and moderate disabilities.

Education/Experience

  • A current member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching in a First Nation school.
  • Successful completion of AQ courses - Special Education 1 and Special Education 2.

Knowledge

  • A vast knowledge of the Rotinonhsion:ni/Hodinohso:ni culture and/or language.
  • Working knowledge in operating a computer system with spreadsheets, word processing, database applications and Windows operations.
  • Experience working with and implementing IEP’s.

Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills through respect, sharing and caring.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, while maintaining the ability to work closely with team members.
  • Awareness of the community’s diverse culture.
  • Willingness to support the mission and vision of the School.

 Other Requirements

  • CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain such.
  • Willingness to obtain Special Education Specialist AQ designation.
  • Must provide the results of a current criminal reference check including a vulnerable sector check.
