Shkaabe Makwa is a Centre for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Wellness at CAMH that supports culturally relevant systems initiatives to achieve health equity and community wellness in collaboration with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and service providers across Ontario. Through the implementation of wise practices, evidence-based models, trauma-informed interventions, and the advancement of research, Shkaabe Makwa strives to transform health outcomes which harmonize traditional knowledge and medical expertise.
Shkaabe Makwa is seeking a First Nation, Inuit or Métis person for a full-time, permanent Social Worker 2. Reporting to the Manager, Workforce Development, the Social Worker 2 designs, develops and maintains training presentation materials, facilitator and learner guides as well as facilitates training around mental health, harm reduction, substance use, counselling skills and other community needs.
Working with a team of internal collaborators and external partners, the Social Worker 2 leads the design, development and delivery of high quality training curriculums and materials that are directly informed by community knowledge and culture-based clinical practice. The Social Worker 2 participates in the design, development and delivery of a range of online content including, but not limited to, websites, webinars, blogs, communities of practice and the overall Learning Management System. The Social Worker 2 contributes to programmatic and organizational support services, such as provincially-directed or community-initiated systems work as well as knowledge exchange and research activities. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West and requires regular travel throughout Ontario, including remote First Nations communities.
