SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

Type of Employment: Full-time permanent

Salary: $117,244.00 – $145,763.00 per annum

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

The Senior Administrative Officer ensures the effective, efficient and responsible operations of the Administration of the Council of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation (CNUFN)

In addition, the incumbent ensures the operations are consistent with the vision, mission, management philosophy, Administrative, programs, services, projects, budgets, standards and organizational and program policies established by the CNUFN Council.

Provides support to the Chief and Council with Chief and Council with intergovernmental affairs, political advocacy and support.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • Post-secondary degree plus five (5) years’ experience in a progressively more responsible positions in a First Nation setting
  • OR post-secondary diploma in a related field plus 7 years’ experience in progressively more responsible positions in a First Nation setting
  • OR Grade 12 plus 10 years’ experience in experience progressively more responsible positions in a First Nation setting
  • Experience in development of legislation, regulations and policy, preferably within a First Nations provincial/territorial organization or First Nations administration
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of
    • Various government funding arrangements, program, regulations and practices relevant to First Nation administration
    • Key management processes including operations, needs assessments and action planning
    • Personnel management and development
    • Delegating, problem-solving and conflict resolution
    • Basic financial management
    • General issues facing First Nation governance and administration
    • First Nation historical, political and legal issues
    • Computers and Microsoft Office software
