We are currently hiring a Researcher to join our Research & Impact Unit department for a short-term contract. Reporting to the Lead Researcher, the Researcher will advance Indspire’s Education and Labour Market (ELM) research portfolio, supporting quantitative data analysis, survey design, and integration of multiple large datasets (e.g., NES, ILP, BBF, and external sources such as Statistics Canada).

 

This role will contribute to producing high-quality, data-driven insights that inform national understanding of Indigenous learners’ pathways into post-secondary education and the labour market.

 

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be:

  • Leading quantitative research projects within the ELM portfolio.
  • Cleaning, merging, and analyzing large datasets using statistical software (SPSS, R, or Python).
  • Designing and implementing new survey instruments and oversee data collection.
  • Retrieving and integrating relevant datasets from external sources (e.g., StatsCan).
  • Producing research briefs, tables, and visual summaries to support publications and dashboards.
  • Ensuring adherence to Indigenous data governance principles and OCAP.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Economics, Education, Data Science, Sociology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative research and data management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in survey design, analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience with Indigenous data and a strong commitment to Indigenous data sovereignty.

 

Expected Deliverables by March 2026

  • Integration and optimization of existing ELM surveys.
  • Development of the new ELM survey.
  • Updated labour market and education outcomes analysis (ELM Phase II).
  • Harmonized dataset linking NES, BBF, and ILP data.
  • Technical report summarizing methods and analysis procedures.
