About the Position
Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Obstetrical/Surgical Unit. The ideal candidate would be dedicated to patient care and committed to championing the Hospital’s Mission to relieve illness and suffering, and help people live healthier lives.

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following;
• Direct Patient Care
• Leadership, communication and coordination of care within a multidisciplinary team
• Participate in professional practice initiatives
• Medication administration
• Documentation in electronic record
• Coach/encourage/mentor staff and students to develop and achieve their best
• Provide patient/family health education
• Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting
of unsafe hazards and work practices
Education & Qualifications
•Hold a current certificate of competence for a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario
•Current BCLS
•Possess an Intravenous certification
•Possess a post-secondary Perinatal Certificate OR Perinatal Course
•Possess 20-hour World Health Organization – Level One Breastfeeding Certificate
•Possess a Fetal Heart Surveillance Certificate
•Possess a current NRP Certificate
•Recent experience in Obstetrical Nursing (Labour and Delivery, Postpartum combined care, antenatal care and New-born care) required
•Recent experience in surgical nursing
•Computer Skills in electronic documentation
•Commitment to customer service and continuous education
•Ability to adapt to a continually changing workload environment
•Excellent Attendance record
•Demonstrated commitment to Patient Rights and patient partnered care

Hours of Work: Must be available for a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Employing approximately 550 highly skilled and dedicated employees, Norfolk General Hospital continues to be a full service 106-bed hospital with round the clock on-call coverage of Specialists in Surgery, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics, as well as on-site 24 hour per day medical coverage.
