Lake Simcoe Company: Waterloo Wetland Lab
Extensive Water Soldier (Stratiotesaloides) was recently discovered in Lake Simcoe, where it poses a significant threat to the ecosystem and recreational activities. Ontario’s Water Soldier Working group is developing an integrated management plan to control this aggressive invader, creating urgent applied ecology questions like “How effective are different treatment methods?” and “How do native plants respond to Water Soldier managment?” The Waterloo Wetland Lab seeks at PhD student for a fully-funded thesis project on Water Soldier management and its ecological effects in Lake Simcoe.
