Ontario Works Case Worker

Ontario Works Department | Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and client-focused Ontario Works Case Worker who will play an essential role in supporting community members through employment assistance, temporary financial assistance, and life stabilization services. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about empowering individuals toward self-reliance, skilled in case management, and committed to making a meaningful difference within the MCFN community.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

· Assess eligibility for Ontario Works by gathering documentation, conducting client assessments, and developing action plans to support client success.

· Provide case management services, ongoing support, and employment-focused assistance to clients working toward financial independence.

· Maintain regular contact with clients to monitor progress, address barriers, and connect individuals with appropriate community supports and resources.

· Prepare referrals to social service agencies, family support services, legal aid, and other community organizations.

· Complete eligibility assessments, financial budgets, case documentation, reports, and correspondence in accordance with Ontario Works policies and procedures.

· Manage client files, maintain accurate records, and prepare monthly financial reports for internal and external reporting requirements.

· Provide front-line support, guidance, and crisis intervention while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.

· Supervise and support the Ontario Works Employment Support Worker to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for candidates who bring:

· College diploma in Social Services, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience delivering financial benefits or social services; or a High School Diploma/equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.

· Strong organizational, time management, and case management skills.

· Excellent interpersonal, counselling, and relationship-building abilities with a client-centered approach.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and documentation.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and confidential environment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License

· Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Assets:

· Experience working with individuals affected by addictions, trauma, homelessness, and poverty.

· Knowledge of Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) legislation, policies, and Ontario Works eligibility requirements.

· Experience working within First Nation communities and knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values.
