Function & Overview

The First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy (FNIYES) supports initiatives to help First Nations and Inuit youth acquire skills, prepare for full-time employment, and earn income to support post-secondary education through summer work experiences. The Marketing Assistant will serve as a key part of Six Nations Polytechnic's
Marketing and Events Team in implementing their creativity and initiative to
support SNP’s vision in education. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will
enhance their own competencies
working with an esteemed
marketing and events team, in an energetic and innovative work environment. The Marketing Assistant will receive direction, guidance, and encouragement, and discuss plans and priorities. The Marketing Assistant
will always maintain
respectful interactions, promoting professional courtesy and adhere to a positive work environment. The Marketing Assistant is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

 

Duties

The duties of the Marketing Assistant – include, without limitation: 

General Duties

  • Monitoring social media content across platforms
  • Developing innovative and trending content for all SNP social media platforms specifically Tiktok, Instagram reels and YouTube. 
  • Developing and managing creative content for program and event promotion
  • Assisting the Marketing and Events Coordinator on upcoming event planning, management and execution
  • Research and brainstorm successful events and marketing strategies for other post-secondary institutions.
  • General administration for communications unit including submitting and filing invoices, receipts, etc. 
  • Other related duties, as required

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • This is a funded position through the First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy (FNIYES) offered through Indigenous Services Canada and applicants should meet the following criteria: 
  • Open to First Nations and Inuit youth aged 15-30;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate a desire to learn new skills and enhance employability skills
  • Desire to collaborate and work in a team environment
  • Have an interest in learning and supporting Hodinǫshǫ:nih
    culture and languages of the Six Nations community;
  • Flexibility; as this position requires frequent changes in tasks, working closely with others as part of a collaborative and cooperative team and great attention to detail
  • Discipline to work independently when working virtually
  • Proficient in social media content and video creation
  • Ability to multi-task and manage all assigned projects and tasks in a timely manner;
  • Capacity to work both independently and in a team setting, and
  • Contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).
