Kayanase Maintenance Worker TOJ
One (1) Year Fixed Term Position Available

Salary Range: $36,700 - $43,400

Grand River Employment and Training Inc. (GRETI) is seeking a reliable and motivated Maintenance Worker with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to support the upkeep, safety, and cleanliness of our facilities and properties

The Kayanase Maintenance Worker shall possess the following skills: Dependability, problem solving, planning & organizing, and physical fitness. In addition to these skills, you must possess the following qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Diploma
  • Up to one (1) year of experience operating machinery & equipment, including skid steer, landscaping & construction equipment

Job Title: Kayanase Maintenance Worker

Location: Kayanase & GRETI

Reports To: Maintenance Team Lead

PURPOSE:

The Kayanase Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of Kayanase grounds and buildings, including mowing, weed trimming, garden maintenance, snow removal, and ensuring the grounds, offices, and facilities are clean and safe, as well as general maintenance and repair of greenhouse and warehouse facilities. Duties may also include routine office cleaning and sanitation such as garbage removal, sweeping, mopping, disinfecting surfaces, and maintaining washroom and common area cleanliness. Inspect equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance. Occasionally assist with greenhouse duties, including watering, weeding, planting, fertilizing, and pest control.

 

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting the department and organization in reaching their goals and objectives by continuously enhancing operations through more efficient and effective work processes while maintaining the level of professionalism expected by GRETI (as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manuals) and upholding the ethics of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Kayanase Maintenance Worker shall possess a High School Diploma or GED Diploma with up to one (1) year of experience operating machinery & equipment, including skid steer, landscaping & construction equipment.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of safe cleaning procedures & use of cleaning supplies/equipment
  • Knowledge in horticulture &/or nursery production
  • Ability to collect data in an organized & detail specific manner
  • Ability to take direction, follow instruction & be a team player

Skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in all kinds of weather
  • Physically fit & hardworking, able to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
