Summary

Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing Incorporated provides safe, affordable housing to homeless and at risk of homeless Indigenous people.

The Indigenous Cultural and Program Support Worker collaborates with Sacajawea staff to support vulnerable families and individuals through outreach, culturally grounded programming, and community integration. This role promotes traditional teachings and healing practices while supporting tenants in building stability, connection, and self-determination

Job Duties

  • Develop tenant-driven programs and services through respectful engagement
  • Promote traditional Indigenous teachings and cultural practices
  • Facilitate cultural education sessions and social connection activities
  • Build collaborative partnerships to advance traditional healing initiatives
  • Maintain accurate client and program documentation while ensuring confidentiality
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings and case collaboration
  • Maintain a safe, respectful environment for tenants, staff, and visitor

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures and lived or community-based experience
  • Experience with local indigenous cultural programs in the surrounding area or other similar experience (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) is preferred
  • Strong understanding of the Seven Grandfather Teachings and Housing First philosophy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and desktop publishing tools
  • Valid CPR & First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

Preferred Assets

  • Experience working in housing, homelessness, mental health, or community services
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and harm-reduction practices
  • Experience facilitating groups or cultural programming

Salary and Benefits

$52,000 - $56,000 salary based on experience (benefits after 3-month probation period)
