Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Kawenni:io/Gaweni:yo School Principal, the Gym Teacher will ensure the physical education component of Kawenni:io/Gaweni:yo School  is delivered in a safe and effective manner by providing on-going and regular physical education instruction for each classroom, ensuring a well-rounded program is planned and delivered, being mindful of all student’s abilities, and will ensure all students are assessed accordingly and that classroom teachers are provided with relevant markings and feedback for report cards.

Education/Qualifications

• A current member of the Ontario College of Teachers OR
• Actively enrolled in a post-secondary program leading to registration with the Ontario College of Teachers

Knowledge

• A vast knowledge of the Rotinonhsion:ni/Hodinohso:ni culture and/or language.
• Can speak Mohawk or Cayuga with some fluency.
• Working knowledge in operating a computer system with spreadsheets, word processing, database applications and Windows operations.

Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills through respect, sharing and caring.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to support the mission and vision of the school.
