Rate of Pay: $20.00 -$22.00/hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week;) Monday to Friday
Occasional evenings, weekends, and special events as may be required

Job Summary
The Woodland Cultural Centre is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and customer-focused
individual to join our Development & Engagement team as a Guest Experience Associate.
Located on the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School, Woodland Cultural
Centre welcomes thousands of visitors each year to learn about Indigenous history, experience
Hodinohso:ni culture, and participate in educational programming, tours, exhibitions, and
community events.
As a Guest Experience Associate, you will serve as one of the first points of contact for visitors,
helping create welcoming, informative, and memorable experiences while supporting
admissions, retail operations, special events, and guest services across Woodland Cultural
Centre.


Job Duties

  • Welcome visitors, school groups, community members, and partners while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Process admissions, memberships, gift shop sales, donations, and other daily transactions.
  • Respond to visitor inquiries in-person, by phone, and by email.
  • Assist with gift shop merchandising, inventory, receiving, pricing, and product displays.
  • Support special events, tours, workshops, exhibitions, and community engagement activities.
  • Promote Woodland Cultural Centre's programs, events, memberships, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming public spaces.
  • Participate in cross-training and provide support across Woodland Cultural Centre as operational needs require.
  • Contribute ideas that enhance the guest experience and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience providing customer service in a retail, museum, tourism, hospitality, or other public-facing environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system and handling cash transactions is considered an asset.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word, with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to accurately process payments, make change, and balance cash transactions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • An interest in Indigenous history, culture, tourism, or community engagement.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.

Physical Requirements

  • Standard office duties including prolonged sitting, computer use, and repetitive tasks
  • Restocking merchandise, organizing displays, and maintaining retail inventory
  • Lifting up to 20lbs unassisted, climbing ladders, and stooping for inventory in storage
