Full-time Math/Literacy Coach (Indigenous Focus) Secondary #69-24-25

 

Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The successful applicant for the position of Instructional Coach will provide support for the implementation of Ministry, Board and Department deliverables in teaching and learning. The individual in the position must be able to provide leadership in professional learning and development.

The primary focus for this position is mathematics instruction and assessment and literacy/language development.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Building trusting relationships with teachers, school administrators, support staffs and Indigenous students
  • Providing direct support to Indigenous students in the areas of mathematics assessment and instruction to improve student understanding of mathematical skills and concepts
  • Provide direct support to Indigenous students in the areas of literacy/language assessments and instruction to improve student understanding of literacy/language skills and concepts
  • Providing direct support to teachers in the areas of evidence-based instructional and assessment practices, to improve numeracy/literacy skills for all Indigenous students, including those with exceptional learning needs through co-planning, co-teaching, co-debriefing
  • Modelling and supporting the development of the effective use of technology to amplify learning
  • Attend professional development with Grade 9 staff
  • Travel, as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualification and qualified to teach in the

Intermediate and Senior divisions in accordance with Ministry of Education regulations

  • Knowledge of Indigenous languages and instruction is preferred
  • Successful teaching experience at the intermediate and/or senior level
  • Successful teaching experience of math and literacy from an indigenous perspective preferred
  • Current knowledge of curriculum, foundational Ministry documents, and evidence-based instructional and assessment practices
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to contribute as a member of a collaborative team
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous classroom teachers
  • Proficiency in supporting teaching and learning through the effective leveraging of digital tools

Rate of Pay

$56,008 - $117,126 Annually
