What Is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Forestry Superintendent is responsible to ensure that projects are completed on schedule in compliance with the contracts and the job cost estimates and all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.

 

The Forestry Superintendent is also responsible for the management of day-to-day operations in the yard, focused on our general contracts for a variety of customers within the Utilities industry.

 

This position is a part of Aecon’s General Partnership with Six Nations within the Ohsweken community. Current project sites are situated across Ontario and on-site presence is required for the role.

 

What You'll Do Here:

 

  • Involvement in bid review process for verification of estimated production and
  • Work with EHS representatives to create and uphold project/site specific EHS programs and policies.
  • Maintain a positive project culture, keeping morale high, through frequent check-ins on progress and career development.
  • Directs Aecon and Non-Aecon craft labour, typically in one discipline. May have other Superintendents or junior project management staff reporting to
  • Construction representative who works in collaboration with PMO, Quality, Design, Project Controls and all other project/site function leads for detailed project handover and
  • Regularly work with site Client Representative, in a professional manner, on routine work updates.
  • Creation of a detailed construction schedule, in consultation with the overall project
  • Must develop in-depth understanding of applicable scope, with knowledge of the work that is contracted and agreed upon between the project/site and
  • Identify risks to PMO, assist in creation of mitigation strategies and implement if
  • Identify requests outside of contracted scope, raise change management issues to PMO and implement as necessary, including schedule, materials and subcontractor
  • Create detailed look-ahead schedule (look ahead window as determined by project), ensuring proper staffing and materials are available when
  • Liaise with necessary subcontractors, union representatives and regulatory bodies to ensure work can proceed as
  • Supervisory scope of $10 to $100 million value of work

What You Bring to the Team:

  • An understanding of construction methodologies and practices gained through a minimum of 5 years of on-site experience leading projects and
  • 10 years of experience in the mechanical or utility forestry
  • Possession of a Land Class Herbicide Application is considered an
  • Applicable technical training obtained through trade certification or post-secondary
  • Well-developed leadership skills gained through managing trade and/or non-trade teams on a construction
  • Ability to organize own work and work of others in a complex
  • High level of professionalism when dealing with all internal and external
