“Field Liaison Representative”

Department of Consultation and Accommodation (DOCA) ll Short-term Contract

MCFN is seeking motivated and dependable Field Liaison Representatives (FLRs) to join our Department of Consultation and Accommodation for the upcoming field season. This role provides a unique opportunity to represent the Nation in archaeological assessments and burial site investigations while gaining valuable field experience throughout MCFN Treaty Territory. Whether you are beginning your career or looking for meaningful seasonal work, this position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the protection of Indigenous history, culture, and heritage.

 

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

· Participate in archaeological fieldwork and burial site investigations while representing MCFN in a respectful and professional manner.

· Conduct excavation monitoring and field activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and cultural protocols.

· Maintain accurate daily field notes, observations, and documentation using designated reporting applications.

· Support Lead Field Liaison Representatives and Field Supervisors in completing archaeological assessments and field investigations.

· Communicate field observations, concerns, and updates to team members and supervisors in a timely manner.

· Ensure all field documentation, reports, and records are completed accurately and submitted on schedule.

· Follow all health and safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and report hazards or incidents as required.

 

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for candidates who bring:

· High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Strong interest in archaeology, Indigenous heritage protection, environmental monitoring, or field-based work.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when maintaining records and field documentation.

· Reliable, punctual, and committed to carrying out assignments safely and professionally.

· Ability to work independently, adapt to changing conditions, and make sound decisions in a field environment.

· Valid Class G Driver's Licence and reliable transportation with the ability to travel throughout MCFN Treaty Territory.

Assets

· Previous archaeological monitoring, environmental monitoring, construction monitoring, or fieldwork experience.

· Knowledge of Indigenous history, archaeology, and cultural heritage protection.

· Experience working outdoors in physically demanding environments.

· Ontario Archaeological Society (OAS) Archaeology Monitor Training or related training.
