Employment Support Worker

Ontario Works Department | Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and community-minded Employment Support Worker who will play an essential role in supporting Ontario Works clients as they prepare for, obtain, and maintain meaningful employment. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping people overcome barriers to employment, committed to client success, and motivated to make a positive impact within the MCFN community.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

· Support Ontario Works clients through individualized employment planning, case management, and goal setting to help achieve sustainable employment.

· Assist clients with résumé development, job applications, interview preparation, and referrals to training, education, and employment programs.

· Coordinate and facilitate employment-related workshops and support services in collaboration with community partners and agencies.

· Advocate for clients and connect them with community resources, government benefits, training opportunities, and social support programs.

· Maintain accurate client records, case notes, reports, and program documentation in compliance with Ontario Works and Ministry guidelines.

· Build positive relationships with employers, service providers, educational institutions, and community organizations to enhance employment opportunities.

· Provide transportation for approved employment-related activities in accordance with program policies.

· Deliver services in a professional, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed manner while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for candidates who bring:

· High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least one (1) year of experience in an office environment, customer service role, or related field.

· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office software applications.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and partners.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively while demonstrating sound judgment, reliability, and professionalism.

· Experience maintaining records, managing confidential information, and completing administrative tasks accurately.

· Ability to demonstrate empathy and apply trauma-informed approaches when supporting clients.

· Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.

· Clear Criminal Record Check.

Assets:

· Experience facilitating workshops, training sessions, or group programs.

· Knowledge of Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), and community support services.

· Experience working with First Nation communities and an understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values.
