Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, you will;

  • Supervise staff (6) within the Operations and Security areas.
  • Develop and implement a cybersecurity governance program, security plan, polices and risk management framework based on industry best practices.
  • Provide guidance and recommend best practices for IT security, training, and audits.
  • Monitor all security alerts and lead security incident management and response.
  • Monitor and maintain asset patch and version standardization and compliance.
  • Provide IT Security consulting and advice to business stakeholders.
  • Assess on-going risk and regularly measure control effectiveness.
  • Implement tactical security plans and automate security processes.
  • May be required to be available for a call-back outside of regular working hours for emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or other relevant area of study, or an approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with five years or more of experience working in a similar role.
  • One or more the following certifications: CompTIA Security+; GIAC Information Security Professional (GISP); Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator: Security; CAP; CISA; CCFP; CCSP; CISSP; CISM; Associate of (ISC)2
  • Experience with SEIM, firewalls and data classification
  • Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR), CASB, IDPS and other security related concepts
  • Working technical knowledge of system vulnerability scanning and remediation
  • Knowledge of security incident management, malware management and vulnerability management processes
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) with a customer service orientation
  • Valid driver’s licence required

 

Job Specifications

Hours of Work

7 hours per day / 35 hours per week; 12 months per year

Rate of Pay/Benefits

$84,225 to $95,710 (pending review).
