The Cultivation Technician is a key role in Kemosabi’s cultivation facilities. The goal of this position is to support the cultivation process of Kemosabi’s cannabis products with the utmost care via advanced cultivation methodologies, detailed record keeping and maintaining an organized and pathogen free workspace. The position requires a self-motivated individual with attention to detail and strong communication skills. This position will report to the Cultivation Manager.

 

Compliance:

 

  • Ensure compliance with all Local, Provincial and Federal Regulations including, but not limited to the SNCC regulations
  • Ensure the cultivation facility maintains full compliance with SNCC regulations
  • The Cultivation Specialist is responsible for adhering to workplace compliance within all current Provincial and Federal regulations, Health & Safety regulations and Kemosabi Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
  • Retention of records including but not limited to; pesticide application logs, waste destruction, plant inventory tracking and product labels/SDS

 

Cultivation:

  • Tend to clones, vegetative and flowering plants including feeding, transplanting, pruning, topping, skirting, trellising, plant training, and any other care required
  • Report any issues occurring with seedlings, clones, flowering/vegetative/mother plants, their health, cycle, scheduling of transplants
  • Assist in harvesting, drying, curing and packaging of cannabis as directed
  • Execute IPM processes as directed by Cultivation Manager
  • Update production logs (checklist, IPM, maintenance, ) daily under guidance of the Cultivation Manager
  • Cross train and provide support to new employees

 

Maintenance:

  • Clean all work areas and production rooms, including but not limited to; cleaning tools, equipment and processing areas
  • Maintain production rooms are in good working condition including and not limited to helping with waste removal, destroying plants and root balls, janitorial activities,
  • Assisting with receiving/shipping product orders and supplies

 

Work Environment:

  • Working hours will be spent in the cultivation facility
  • Repetitive use of hands and arms
  • Moderate physical activity such as walking and lifting is required on a daily basis (able to lift at least 50 pounds, able to stand for long periods of time, able to bend, push, pull and reach)
  • Working environment of 18 to 30 degrees Celsius, will be exposed to noise, odors, cannabis irritants
  • Safety gear and PPE, such as sunglasses, gloves, goggles, masks, ear protection and safety footwear must be worn on a regular basis

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess physical dexterity necessary to work with small and delicate products (clones, trimmings)
  • Familiarity with commercial agricultural practices & systems including but not limited to; propagation techniques, pruning techniques, irrigation, identifying signs of over/underwatering, communicating with proper and standardized terminology
  • Familiarity with cannabis anatomy and physiology including but not limited to; needs of specific growth phases, diagnosing nutritional toxicities/deficiencies,
  • Work efficiently, manages time effectively
  • Pay close attention to detail
  • Able to identify problems or malfunctions with equipment
  • Exhibit ability to work cautiously but efficiently
  • Possess physical strength and stamina required to stand, sit or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds

 

Education, Experience, & Misc Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Prior experience with growing cannabis required
  • Reliable transportation
