Position title:     Constable Trainee (Summer Student)

Supervisor:         Platoon Sergeant, Coach Officer

All Six Nations Police sworn/uniform officers are responsible for providing police service in accordance with the Six Nations Police Mission Statement.  Six Nations Constables are designated to provide policing services within the Six Nations Territory.

Duties:

• Attend orientation- familiarize with building, personal protective equipment station, staff introductions (platoon and office staff), review pertinent policy sections, time sheet and forms, confidentiality oaths sworn to and explained.
• Use of force- model, principles, assessment and response options read, review and understand.
• Ensure notebooks are completed each shift and kept up to date.
• Attend daily platoon briefing.
• Regular patrols with their coach officer; attend routine calls, observe identification process, finger printing and photographing; observe on-line court procedures; observe record preparation and processing.
• Fill out and submit weekly time sheets.

Other Related Duties:

Assist in promotional activities as required

Qualifications

• Must be 18 -24 years for all positions
• Must be a registered band member
• Must be entering post secondary or returning to post secondary institution
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be a team player and motivated
• Must be able to work independently, if required
• Must be able to work shift work
• Must be able to pass a Police Criminal Records Check
• Must be willing and able to participate in physical fitness testing
• Possess a valid G, or G2 licence
