INTRODUCTION
The Oneida Investment Corporation (OIC) was established in the summer of 2024 by a Band Council Resolution as an arms-length, for-profit entity of the Oneida Nation of the Thames (Shareholder). With a bold vision to achieve self-sufficiency by Oneida’s 200th anniversary in Year 2040, OIC operates under the direction of a Shareholder-appointed board of directors. Its mandate focuses on driving measurable outcomes in four strategic areas: financial profitability, social impact, political empowerment, and environmental stewardship. OIC’s activities are governed by its recently ratified 5-Year Investment Charter, which outlines the corporation’s investment principles, priorities, and protocols. This framework guides the development of a robust portfolio of investment-grade assets aimed at ensuring long-term wealth generation and preservation for the Oneida Nation.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Board of Directors of the Oneida Investment Corporation (OIC) is seeking a dynamic and visionary First Nations leader to serve as the inaugural CEO, guiding the corporation through its formative phase of growth and strategic execution. The CEO will be tasked with building a strong executive team, prioritizing the recruitment of proven business leaders from within the First Nations community. Additionally, the CEO will focus on driving significant topline revenue growth through new investments and strategic partnerships. This role presents a unique and historic opportunity to contribute to a 200-year legacy that will create lasting, generational impact for the Oneida Nation.
5 KEY STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES of the CEO
Reporting to the Board of Directors and in alignment with the vision and mission of the Shareholder First Nation, the CEO will oversee all aspects of the corporation's operations, focusing on the five strategic pillars of:
Drive meaningful and measurable progress in developing equity investment strategies, culminating in informed final investment decisions in collaboration with industry partners, equity stakeholders, the Crown and its ministries. Ensure the implementation and execution of comprehensive due diligence practices in support of the strategies.
Seed and nurture cash-flowing commercial partnerships with well-qualified, value-aligned, industry leading proponents. Design and execute competitive value propositions to win RFPs and sole-sourcing of EPC opportunities for First Nations businesses.
Enhance the status and leverage of the Oneida Nation, along with other strategically aligned First Nations to optimize Impact Benefits Agreements for the maximum benefit and minimum impact on Oneida Nation. Accurately assess the impacts and benefits of major projects through the four balanced perspectives of financial profitability, social impact, political empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
Formulate and execute innovative growth strategies with scalable partnerships, win-win mergers and acquisitions, recruitment and contracting of qualified SMEs with preferential recruitment and capacity development for First Nations candidates. Create and manage a corporate brand identity that is consistent with, and complimentary to, the culture and protocols of Oneida Nation.
Forecastable financial strategies to maximize dividend payouts for Oneida Nation members. Accurately articulate fiscal stewardship of all OIC financial activities through development of financial laws and policies. Coordinate timely presentation of monthly and quarterly financial reports to the board of directors.
