Three (3) Volunteer Positions - Brantford/Brant, Hamilton, Niagara

Introduction:

De dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre is seeking passionate and committed individuals from our catchment area—including Brantford/Brant, Haldimand, Hamilton, Niagara, and Norfolk—to serve as Community Representatives on our Board of Directors. We are currently recruiting for three (3) Board Members with an interest gaining governance experience.

Who We Are

Established in 1998, De dwa da dehs nye>s is an Indigenous-designed and Indigenous-governed non-profit health organization. Our mission is to improve the wellness of Indigenous individuals, families, and communities by delivering wholistic health services that are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and grounded in Indigenous knowledge, values, and traditions.

Our services include:

  • Primary care
  • Mental health and addictions services
  • Chronic disease and diabetes management
  • Traditional health and healing
  • Health education and research

All delivered in a respectful, inclusive, and culturally meaningful environment.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from:

  • Indigenous persons preferred but not required (self-identify in your cover letter)
  • Persons with a demonstrated and meaningful interest in Indigenous health and wellness
  • One Youth representative (18-30 years of age)

Board Commitment

  • Approximately 10 Board Meetings (in person scheduled for 2.5 hours) and 10 Committee Meetings (virtual scheduled for 1 hour) per year
  • Meetings held on a consistent day each month (e.g. First Monday of the Month)
  • All meetings will be held in-person at the Hamilton office with opportunity for virtual engagement on occasion.
  • Annual Board retreat 1-2 days
