Architectural Design Technologist 
General Description 
While working in a team environment and under the direction of the Senior Architectural 
Manager and Project Managers, the Architectural Design Technologist will support the 
planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of architectural projects 
undertaken by K.L. Martin & Associates Corp. 
The position involves participation in feasibility studies, design development, preparation 
of construction documents, and support during the construction phase of projects 
including commercial, institutional, and residential developments. 
The Architectural Design Technologist will work collaboratively with project managers, 
architects, consultants, contractors, and client representatives to ensure projects are 
delivered efficiently and in accordance with project objectives. 
Responsibilities: 
The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of the position. This list is not 
exhaustive but provides a general outline of the expectations associated with the role. 
Planning & Project Initiation 
• Assist with early planning stages of projects including feasibility studies, 
technical reviews, and preparation of planning documentation. 
• Compile and review existing technical documentation including drawings, 
reports, and previous studies related to projects. 
• Assist with preparation of preliminary project budgets and estimates. 
• Conduct site visits and perform field measurements as required. 
• Assist with preparation of technical reports and planning documentation for 
internal and client presentations. 
Detailed Design & Construction Documents 
• Prepare architectural drawings, plans, and construction documents using Revit, 
SketchUp, AutoCAD, and other design software. 
• Develop architectural sections, details, and schedules including door, window, 
hardware, flooring, and finish schedules. 
• Assist the Design Manager or Architect in refining architectural design concepts 
and preparing specifications. 
• Participate in internal design meetings and revise drawings as directed by project 
leads.

• Support preparation of general architectural specifications and technical 
documentation. 
Construction Phase Services 
• Assist with preparation of tender documents, addenda, and supporting 
documentation for procurement processes. 
• Support review of contractor submissions including shop drawings, Requests for 
Information (RFIs), insurance documentation, and other contract deliverables. 
• Assist in reviewing contractor payment certificates and supporting 
documentation. 
• Act as a project contact for the firm on assigned tasks and communicate project 
requests, issues, or concerns to the Project Manager or supervisor for appropriate 
follow-up. 
• Participate in site visits and field reviews with the Project Manager or Architect. 
• Document site observations and assist with preparation of field review reports. 
• Participate in project meetings with contractors and consultants and assist with 
preparation of meeting minutes. 
• Assist with deficiency reviews, substantial completion inspections, and project 
close-out activities. 
• Support documentation of project close-out materials including warranties and 
operation and maintenance manuals. 
Project Coordination & Administration 
• Assist Project Managers in coordinating project schedules, milestones, and 
deliverables. 
• Assist in updating project schedules and monitoring project budgets in 
coordination with Project Managers. 
• Maintain organized project documentation including drawings, correspondence, 
meeting minutes, and contract records. 
• Track project progress and notify project managers of schedule risks or delays. 
• Assist with coordination between internal design teams, external consultants, 
contractors, and client representatives. 
• Participate in project meetings and document decisions, action items, and follow
up tasks. 
• Assist with preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), feasibility studies, and 
other technical reports as required. 
• Assist with preparation of project status reports for internal management and 
clients. 
• Support preparation of proposals, feasibility studies, and technical reports. 
• Assist with preparation of project correspondence including letters, emails, and 
documentation for contractors and client groups.

• Assist in maintaining project drawing sets and document revisions in accordance 
with company standards. 
• Prepare project status reports for internal management or client teams as required. 
Site Reviews & Building Assessments 
• Assist with site inspections and documentation of existing building conditions. 
• Prepare building condition and deficiency reports when required. 
• Assist with documentation of required repairs, upgrades, or maintenance 
requirements identified during inspections. 
Knowledge/Skills: 
• Proficiency in architectural software including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 
Microsoft Office applications. 
• Ability to read, interpret, and prepare architectural drawings and technical 
documentation. 
• Knowledge of Ontario Building Code requirements including Part 3 and Part 9. 
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. 
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and manage multiple 
project tasks simultaneously. 
• Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and practices. 
• Understanding of First Nations communities, priorities, and project environments 
considered an asset. 
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to project 
managers and team members.   
Basic Requirements:  
• Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent education and experience. 
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. 
• Understanding of Ontario Building Code requirements including Part 3 and Part 
9. 
• Ability to travel periodically to project sites. 
• Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation. 
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company projects and internal 
operations. 
Additional Duties: 
The Architectural Design Technologist may be required to perform additional duties as 
assigned by the President, Senior Architectural Manager, or Project Managers in support 
of project delivery and company operations.   Work is primarily office-based with 
periodic travel to project sites.  Occasional travel to First Nations communities may be
