The Grand Erie District School Board’s 2,800 employees provide quality education to approximately 26,000 full-time equivalent students who attend our 72 schools. The Board spans a geographic area encompassing the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk. The Board requires a qualified Accounting Analyst.
The successful candidate will provide accounting support to the Facility Services Department and analyze and communicate results of monthly expense analysis to the supervisor to ensure accuracy of the facilities departmental budget. The successful team player will act as a gatekeeper for purchasing card transactions and perform continuous needs assessment to develop meaningful reporting to Facility Services Management regarding capital projects, departmental budget as well as annual budget development. The chosen applicant will be responsible for the creation of purchase orders, processing of invoices, tracking and analysis of all capital projects. Following Ministry guidelines as well as generally accepted accounting principles, the successful candidate will provide Business Services will a listing of Tangible Capital Asset additions for the major accounting reporting cycles. The successful applicant will perform a leadership role in both maintaining Ebase project tracker and the Facilities Capital Planning and Management Software (VFA) ensuring all projects are tracked efficiently and effectively for analysis purposes.
- Community College Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a similar role is required
- Strong accounting skills required
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills
- Advanced level knowledge of spreadsheets, pivot tables, query, databases, accounting software and other computer applications required
- Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to deal with competing timelines necessary
Hours: 7 hour day; 35 hours per week, 12 months a year
Effective Date: As soon as possible
Hourly Rate: $30.50/hr
